The 2024 football season is quickly approaching for the West Washington School Corporation. On Friday, August 9th, it hosted the Senator Showcase to give the community a glimpse of what the athletes have been working on this summer.
The Senator Showcase allows West Washington (WW) football players of all ages to show off their skills on a Friday night! The high school team has around 40 athletes on the J.V. and Varsity squad and the J.R. High team has around 50 athletes. The Elementary Youth Upper and Lower Divisions are showing promise by having over 75 athletes participating.
The parents and community filled the stands to support the football program. They donated enough soap, towels, and other necessities to last the high school team for the rest of the season.
“We were pleased by the performance of the high school and their commitment is showing up in the improvements they are making,” Jeremy Lowery, head coach of the WW high school football team, said. Before the season opener against Eastern the team is looking to improve on basic fundamentals and become more consistent, said Lowery.
Top to bottom the motto for Senator Football is “Let’s be Great”. Lowery said “We believe that building relationships and continuity are the key factors in having a successful football program. We want our kids at all levels to understand the expectations and culture that go along with being a Senator football player. We are blessed to have coaches at all levels who recognize our vision and are willing to dedicate their time and knowledge to our Senator Football Family.”
