West Washington (WW) defeated Mitchell on Friday, September 6th. The Senators scored 35 points and held the defense to 6 points.
“Our team played with great energy and effort. We got off to a great start which set the tone for the entire game,” head coach, Jeremy Lowery said. Throughout the game, many athletes stood out.
“I’ll shout out Wyatt Wallace. He is kicking butt on defense and getting a lot of tackles” sophomore, Colton Brown said. The defense fought hard and because of their effort, they were able to hold Mitchell to a low score.
“Our defense and special teams played very well. We got the special teams to score on Colton Brown’s great kickoff return. That play was executed well and made a huge difference in the game,”
Brown set off down the field after Mitchell's kickoff. “They kicked it off and I ran it to the house,” Brown said.
As the Senators look forward to their next matchup they continue to work hard during the week at practice. On Friday, September 13th WW will face off against Springs Valley. The game is away and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
“Valley is a talented and physical football team. They will play an aggressive style of defense and they have speed on offense. We must execute well and make plays on offense, defense, and special teams. We are excited for our first game on the road and expect a very electric atmosphere Friday,” Lowery said.
