Family First:
"My family is very important to me!" Mrs. Minton shared with a smile, emphasizing the central role family plays in her life. Having grown up with a brother who also graduated from West Washington, she appreciates the value of close-knit family bonds. She enjoys spending time with her large extended family. Her husband is Ashton Minton, who is a teacher at West Washington and also the head boys' basketball coach. They recently got married and have been together since high school.
Coming Home to West Washington:
"My family and my husband’s coaching opportunity is what attracted me back here to West Washington. Being able to be surrounded by my family in the hallway every day is so special," she says. After seeing her husband’s coaching opportunity arise, she knew it was the perfect time to come back. Her passion for building a family-like atmosphere in her classroom stems from watching her father instill love and connection into his own teaching and coaching career. "Growing up, I got to watch my dad’s impact on others, and that has helped shape my own teaching career today," explained Mrs. Minton.
The Journey to Teaching:
Maddie graduated from West Washington High School and began college at IUS. After graduating, she began her teaching journey at Throop Elementary. She taught at Paoli Schools for two years prior to coming back to West Washington.
The Heart of Teaching:
It does not take long to see that Maddie’s joy in teaching comes from seeing her students progress and develop over time. "The one thing I love most about teaching is being able to watch my kids grow each and every day!" remarked Mrs. Minton.
Life Beyond the Classroom:
When she’s not teaching, you’ll often find Mrs. Minton spending time with her family, traveling, reading, or watching sports. She’s especially passionate about supporting her husband’s basketball team and attending various sporting events with her loved ones. "If I’m not in the classroom, you can typically find my family and me together at a sporting event!"
Mrs. Minton brings her strong family values, passion for teaching, and a love for the West Washington community into everything she does. West Washington is lucky to have her!
