On Friday October 25th the West Washington (WW) Senators shutout South Decatur to advance to Sectional Round Two! The final score was 40-0. This week the team will face Milan at home.
The Senators made a lot of big plays on Friday to secure their win. “We did a great job raising our level of energy and urgency which is a must this time of year. Defensively, we pursued well and our tackling was very good. Our special teams came up huge with a blocked punt and field goal. Offensively, our overall blocking at all positions stood out as a real positive,” head coach Jeremy Lowery said.
There were many stand out athletes from Friday's performance. “Alex Houchin really controlled things upfront in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Hayden Morrow and Colton Brown made a difference with their blocking on the perimeter. Xander McPheeters made some big plays on Defense and Special teams. Our outside backers Hudson Cress and Wyatt Wallace did a great job containing runs on the edges,” Lowery said.
The team achieved the win by playing together and having high energy throughout the matchup. “Our kids were really dialed in from the start. We were very comfortable with the plan and it showed in our aggressive play,” Lowery said.
Milan has a record of 6-4. “They are a well coached, disciplined football team. They do not beat themselves and force their opponents to execute,” Lowery said.
