Senator Football

The West Washington (WW) Varsity Football team finished the season with a 4-7 record. The team advanced to the second round of sectionals where they were defeated by Milan. The evening ended with the seniors taking a final walk down the field with their coaches.

“We want to start by thanking our seniors for their incredible commitment to Senator football. This was a very enjoyable group to work with that did everything we asked them to do. This group has left a lasting impression on their teammates and this will certainly have an impact on the future success of our program,” head coach Jeremy Lowery said.

The Senators had a season of ups and downs but they got better as a unit. “There are several things our team improved on as we progressed. We definitely improved on Defense and Special Teams as the season went on. We also improved up front on Offense throughout the season. We were very consistent in our preparation and we did an excellent job maintaining a good attitude and effort no matter the circumstance or situation,” Lowery said.

The Campbellsburg community always came out to support their local school on Friday nights. “We have a great fan base, student backing, and community support here at West Washington. We would like to thank all of those who came out to support our football program this year. There is nothing like Friday Night lights and our crowd does a great job helping create this atmosphere,” Lowery said.

Coach Lowery wants to highlight Senator Football athletes of all ages. The junior high team had 49 athletes on the roster. This led to a very successful season for both 7th and 8th grade. They each only lost one game. The 8th graders finished first in the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference (PLAC) and they were undefeated in the conference.

The youth programs also flourished. “For the third year in a row, we led our league in participation with 74 kids participating,” Lowery said. The lower division made many improvements and finished the season in third place. The upper division showed great promise with a PLAC Championship. “Both our 5th and 6th grade teams went undefeated for the season. In fact, our 6th grade team did not give up a single point all year,” Lowery said.

The 2024 Varsity team was young but gained experience and confidence this season. “They showed great commitment and dedication with great attendance throughout the summer and season. We believe we have made gains in our strength program and will continue to see improvements in this area that will equal more success on Friday nights,” Lowery said. Coaches expect to see around 50 players on next year's high school roster.

The 2026 Seniors are expected to step into a greater leadership role this offseason. “We have a promising group of seniors next season who are eager to get back to work. We have an extensive offseason planned including leadership training,” Lowery said.
