The Senators played against Christian Academy in their first round of sectional. The West Washington (WW) team played hard but didn’t secure the win to advance. The final score of the game was CAI 37 WW 27.
The team worked hard all season and improved as the season progressed. Their final record is 7-16.
WW is grateful to the seniors who dedicated their time and energy to their team and school. “The three seniors that came out are very special to me. Being my first year, these three I will remember forever since they are my first group of seniors. With a coaching change, it isn’t always easy coming back out but I want to thank these three for doing so,” head coach Ashton Minton said.
The team had three seniors: Kree Zink, Jackson Wiseman and Silas Batt.
“Kree has gone through a lot of adversity throughout his career and I can’t thank him enough for everything he has put into this year even after suffering a season-ending injury. Even with an injury, all season Kree was a supporter and looked out for his teammates which shows a lot about his character,” Minton said.
“Jackson played multiple roles throughout the season and battled every day in practice pushing his teammates to be the best they could be. By the end of the season, he ended up getting a lot of time and being a huge piece to our team because of all the work he put into practice throughout the year,” Minton said.
“Silas was a captain and one of our leaders. Every day he came into practice and worked hard. Every day you knew what you’d get out of him and he will continue to do this the rest of his career for whoever is lucky enough to hire him,” Minton said.
The 2025 senior class will be missed. “All three of these seniors were very crucial to our team and played a huge part in how much we improved over the course of the season. All three will definitely be missed and all three will be successful in whatever they choose to do in life. West Washington Basketball is very proud of Kree, Jackson, and Silas,” Minton said.
Minton is already planning for next season. “Next year we return the majority of our team back, returning four out of our five starters and returning key pieces of the bench that will step into new roles. We hope to learn from this year and continue building off where we ended. We were playing our best basketball the last two weeks of the season and that’s all you can ask for. With such a young team, this will only help us moving into next year with all the minutes these young kids logged. Expectations will be high moving forward into next season. For this group, the off-season will be the most important thing and crucial in building off of this season,” Minton said.
