After a few weeks on the job, Courtney is excited for this new opportunity. “Everyone at West Washington has been so welcoming and friendly.  It seems like such a tight-knit community and I look forward to being a part of it,” she noted.

The feeling is mutual with everyone around the school agreeing that Courtney is a great fit at West Washington.  WWES Principal, Tom Rosenbaum, shared “Ms. Vires comes highly recommended to WWES from her previous teaching position at Vienna Finley. Ms. Vires has already shown in her first three weeks that she is an outstanding teacher.  WWES is lucky to have Ms. Vires as a 1st grade teacher.”

Courtney is originally from Avon, Indiana and moved to southern Indiana to attend IUS.  “After graduation, I decided to stay in the area. My parents are both from the Austin/Scottsburg area so I have family close by,”  Ms. Vires explained.

Courtney added that she has a strong sense of family.  “My mom, two sisters, and niece and nephew still live in Avon. I spend a lot of my free time traveling to spend time with them,”  she proudly stated.

Courtney carries a true passion for teaching and the learning process.  Her love for teaching is apparent. “Teaching has always been a passion of mine. While working in the primary grades, I found that I love seeing how much they grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally. I enjoy starting their education journey with them and hope to help them develop a love for learning for the years that follow,” she expressed.
